River Isle – Chris Patten Xmas Fayre – 3rd December 2023

I haven’t fished the river since 29th Jan when I blanked at Hambridge and I must admit I was hoping for rain so we’d be on the pond which has been fishing well. Alas my prayers weren’t answered and the river it was. As always there was a great turnout with lots of faces I haven’t seen since last year including George

River Isle – Chris Patten Xmas Fayre – 4th December 2022

The river was back to being low and clear for the Chris Patten Xmas Fayre and after struggling last week, I was hoping for a better draw today, preferably a chub peg! We met at the bowling club for breakfast and were well looked after by Charlotte. There’s always a good turnout for the Xmas Fayre and this year there were 22

River Isle – Chris Patten Xmas Fayre – 5th December 2021

For the second of my trilogy of festive fixtures, it was the Chris Patten Xmas Fayre. Another match I always look forward to although after blanking in the previous two river matches, I didn’t want to make it a hat trick! The day got off to a great start at the bowling club with a cracking breakfast and plenty of banter. Always

River Isle – Chris Patten Xmas Fayre – 13th December 2020

I always look forward to the Xmas Fayre as there’s normally a good turnout and this year was no exception with 22 anglers booked in. Along with all the regulars it was lovely to see Russell Hilton again, Dylan Moss joining us for the first time and it was especially nice to have Neil Dring back for his first match in ages.

Hebditch’s Pond – Chris Patten Xmas Fayre – 15th December 2019

Earlier in the week I had thought there was a really good chance of us fishing the Xmas Fayre on the river but loads of rain as we approached the weekend soon put paid to that. As I was fishing Todber on Saturday, Hurf and Rob said they’d have a look and let me know what the state of play was. To

Chris Patten Memorial – Chard Reservoir – 27th September 2009

Once again I was privileged enough to receive an invite to this popular event and was quite looking forward to it as the resi is fishing really well at the moment. I got to the carpark fairly early and it was already nearly full! Les had driven back from his holiday especially for the event and was already in full organisational mode!

Chris Patten Memorial – Chard Reservoir – 28th September 2008

After winning this event last year I was keen to do well again. I picked my mate Andy up who normally does well on the resi and we went to the draw. We got there to be met by Les in full organisational mode, complete with walkie-talkie! This year the match was to be split into two pools, float anglers and those

Chard Reservoir – Chris Patten Memorial – 9th December 2007

I felt highly privileged to receive an invite to this match again, the venue for this year was Chard resi where the bream and roach fishing can be very good. I quite fancied a draw on the dam wall as this would mean a nice short walk, also the weather forecast was awful with 80-90 mph winds and heavy rain predicted. True

Dillington Pond – Chris Patten Memorial – 3rd December 2006

Chris was a fantastic angler who died at a young age and Baz Morgan (one of Chris’s best friends) thought a match on the River Isle would be a fitting tribute to a fantastic bloke. Alas the weather let us down and heavy rain and strong winds saw the match switched to Dillington and Perry St ponds. Chris served his apprenticeship on
