River Isle – IAA Winter League 4 – 21st November 2021

After blanking in the last round, another bad result and my league would be over, with the river low and clear, it was going to be feast or famine so a good draw would be essential. As per usual we met at the bowling club and it seems to be getting busier every week with some Stoke and Chard members joining us

River Isle – IAA Winter League 3 – 7th November 2021

I was really looking forward to round three of the Haines Angling and Allen & Woodard Building Contractors winter league on the river. Terry had once again put in loads of time and effort to try and put everyone on some fish. Midelney was in again and downstream of Hambridge was being used for the first time. There was another good turnout

River Isle – IAA Winter League 2 – 24th October 2021

For round two of the Haines Angling and Allen & Woodard Building Contractors sponsored winter league we were on the Isle which was looking unlikely earlier in the week when the river was in the fields! Twenty anglers were booked in and would be spread over the Coxes, Redbridge and Isle Brewers sections. As always we were well looked after at the

River Isle – Ilminster vs Stoke – 17th October 2021

Some more sad news this week when I heard Adrian Green had passed away after a long battle with cancer. I hadn’t seen Adrian for a long time, in fact the last time I saw him was at the first memorial match for his great friend Barney Crockett. The pair of them were massive influences on me when I started fishing, Adrian

River Isle – IAA Winter League 1 – 3rd October 2021

I always look forward to getting back on the river and after winning the league two years ago, I got off to the perfect start last season with section wins in the first two rounds only for Covid to come along and the rest of the series was cancelled. For this year we have some fantastic sponsorship for the series from Haines

River Isle – Chris Patten Xmas Fayre – 13th December 2020

I always look forward to the Xmas Fayre as there’s normally a good turnout and this year was no exception with 22 anglers booked in. Along with all the regulars it was lovely to see Russell Hilton again, Dylan Moss joining us for the first time and it was especially nice to have Neil Dring back for his first match in ages.

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 2 – 25th October 2020

After a great start to the league in the first match, I was hoping for more of the same this weekend and after some rain mid-week, the river was in perfect condition but with more forecast for Saturday would it be too much? Looking at the river levels online, it was touch and go whether we would be on the river or

River Isle – Ilminster vs Stoke – 18th October 2020

I’m really enjoying these inter-club fixtures and it’s great having some bigger matches although with 25 originally booked in, pegging it was going to cause a few headaches. I have to say a massive thanks to Rob Cox, Baz Morgan, Leighton and Paul Adams who did loads of work finding swims and making them fishable and at Midelney, they even put pallets

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 1 – 11th October 2020

I always look forward to this league and getting back on the Isle, it’s seven matches with your best six results counting so it’s nice if you can get off to a decent start. I managed to win the league last season for only the second time and would be trying my hardest to retain the title. Rob and Leighton had been

River Isle – Ilminster vs Taunton – 19th January 2020

With loads of rain in the week and the river flooded yet again, I was mentally preparing myself for a bit of a grueller on the pond, especially after we’d had a couple of hard frosts. As the weekend approached, the rain stopped and with hardly any on Friday and none forecast for Saturday and Sunday, it was looking like we might
