Saturday arrived and it was back to Acorn for another one of Foxy’s matches and after struggling on Thursday I was gutted when I pulled out peg 36 where I didn’t weigh in on a recent silvers qualifier. Starting across to the island, an ide after a few minutes proved to be a false dawn and with an hour gone I only had two in the net. The 11.5 metre line produced three in quick succession before it died and I just couldn’t string a run of fish together.
From what I could see it was fishing quite hard apart from Simon Stacey on peg 5 who was regularly netting carp and Mark Broomsgrove by the bridge on 34 was catching quite a few silvers. I had an ide short then a carp, a tench and another ide down the middle but knew I wouldn’t be doing any good today. At the all out, I finished up with 10 ide, a tench and four carp for 21lb 3oz.
Back at the results and Simon had won the match comfortably with 136lb 10oz, Kev Perry took second spot from peg 12 with 79lb 9oz, Gareth Boycott on 10 was third with 54lb 10oz and Paul Faiers had the top silvers weight with 20lb from peg 31.
