Todber on Saturday and of course it was stupidly windy again, so fed up with it now and I can’t remember a weekend when I haven’t been virtually blown off the bank! After a fantastic breakfast in the Lakeside Kitchen, it was time for the draw and myself and Mr Dew employed the usual technique of hanging back although it needs recalibrating if recent results are anything to go by! We selected our tickets and I was on 73 with Ade next door, possibly slightly too far up on recent form but we’d have a laugh at least.
I set up a maggot feeder plus pole rigs for the edge and 11.5 metres (which was rather ambitious given the conditions!). On the whistle I fed the pole lines before starting on the feeder and a positive pull from an ide after a few minutes was encouraging. I was getting the odd knock but after 90 minutes I hadn’t added anything else to the net so had a look on the two pole lines for one tiny roach.
Back on the feeder I had a decent roach but was going nowhere fast, Ade went down the edge and had a big 3lb+ skimmer while Jon Gray down on 70 was bagging and Lee Jan next door was getting a few as well. I switched to a groundbait feeder and had a small skimmer but just couldn’t string any fish together, a couple of tiny roach down the edge didn’t boost my catch much while Mr Dew had another slab on the pole to give me a next peg spanking.
The scales started at our end and Glynn had 11lb 8oz of roach, Ade weighed 10lb 8oz, I chucked back around a pound but they credited me with 6oz! Martin on 72 DNW’d as well and then Mark B had 11lb before Jon weighed a very impressive 38lb 8oz of big skimmers and a nice tench. Lee Jan had some big fish for 16lb 8oz and would win the nuggets today, Amanda weighed 3lb, Nick had 8lb 4oz, Paul W weighed 6lb and then Henry did well on 65 with 15lb 8oz. Jon won the match with a brilliant 38lb 8oz *

Lee Jan had some nice bream in his second placed 16lb 8oz*
McKenzie had 10lb, Nicky ‘The Roach Nurdler’ Collins had a cracking net of redfins for 14lb 8oz and Parker The Pole weighed 8lb on 62.
1 – Jon Gray (Todber) – 38lb 8oz
2 – Lee Jan (Todber) – 16lb 8oz
3 – Henry Smith (Todber) – 15lb 8oz

Adrian Dew kindly donated £5 of side bets he’s won in recent weeks, Lee Jan let me have the two nuggets he claimed today and along with £2 each from Nick P and me, the charity total rose to £256.

Lee collected the nuggets (and then kindly donated them)*
