Summerhayes – Open – 8th April 2015

After a very enjoyable two days fishing over the Bank Holiday weekend, it was back to Summerhayes today for match number three in four days. I was a bit late picking Janders up but we got there in good time, only to be met by the worst news possible that Clive Cunningham had suffered a heart attack at the fishery the previous

Summerhayes – Pairs Festival Day One – 5th April 2015

As per usual Pete runs a two day mini festival over the Bank Holiday weekend and my partner was Ray Wickham once again, in the last one we both did well on the first day but blew out on day two when we drew good carp pegs! Also the texting from the Torquay Tart started last week as he advised me to get

Summerhayes – Open – 15th March 2015

I was looking forward to fishing my first match of the year on Longs, especially as there’s been a recent influx of good sized bream. These new fish have been feeding well and anglers have been catching bags to 50lb meaning people can target silvers and have a realistic chance of winning the match. Janders was keeping me company today and on arriving,

Summerhayes – Open – 31st December 2014

With the year drawing to a close I booked into the mid week open on Longs, this was to be the last chance saloon for an envelope as I hadn’t managed one this month yet. I wasn’t confident though because as regular readers know, I like to fish for silvers and only 2lb 12oz was enough to win in last Sunday’s match.

Summerhayes – Open – 21st September 2014

After a long but very enjoyable day yesterday, I was off to Summerhayes with Janders today. I’ve only just finished the blog for the Dorset Stour and as I’ve got to be up early again tomorrow and it’s now 22;27, this will be a fairly short blog (thank God I hear you cry!). There was another good turnout today with 18 fishing

Summerhayes – Pairs Festival Day Two – 25th August 2014

On waking up, the forecasters had got it right for once as it was raining, I got to the draw and although it was wet, it wasn’t too windy for a change. I said hello to everyone and had a coffee, Rob Kingston paid me his pound from yesterday but Reece wanted double or quits which I agreed to as you’re more likely to

While I was looking forward to the match on Longs, I wasn’t looking forward to being on the tail-end of hurricane Bertha! I got to the draw fairly early and it wasn’t that windy at all!, perhaps they’d got it wrong or it had missed us! I picked up some keepnets before paying my pools and having a cup of coffee. Pete

Summerhayes – Open – 13th July 2014

Before I get onto this weeks blog I must just mention that I picked up my new seatbox yesterday, yes you heard correctly, the Tardis has finally been retired! After talking to several people and looking at what’s available I decided on the Martix Superbox as it’s had great reviews and it doesn’t cost the Earth. It’s a nice looking box but

Summerhayes – Open – 27th April 2014

After a really good start to the year I was expecting to hit a blip at some point and April has been poor so far with just one pick up and I was hoping I could finish the month on a high. The weather wasn’t too bad although rain showers were forecast for today, I just hoped the wind wouldn’t be too

Summerhayes – Open – 13th April 2014

I hadn’t heard from the Torquay Tart for a while but with the weather now starting to warm up, the texting started about how he was going to own me and I needed to buy some Savlon cream for my arse which was going to get whipped yet again. I did reply saying I still had a tube of cream unopened from
