Summerhayes – Open – 26th December 2024

After a short interlude for Xmas Day, it was back to Summerhayes for the Boxing Day open. I thought there might be a few there, keen to get out after stuffing themselves with turkey but was a little surprised to see 24 names on the list which was a great turnout. In complete contrast to the last match, the lake was flat

Summerhayes – Open – 22nd December 2024

The forecast was equally unattractive the following day and another battering by the elements was on the cards. When I arrived I was quite surprised to see the car park was fairly busy which confirmed my suspicions that the majority of anglers are bonkers! Most people favoured another rover style match so people could try and find sheltered pegs, I pulled out

Summerhayes – Xmas Match – 15th December 2024

On Sunday it was another Xmas match, this time at Summerhayes and parking was at a premium with 40 anglers booked in! It was a rover with all lakes in and also a rolling draw which obviously depended on someone pulling out choice one before it could get underway! Nick pulled out choice 7 and when I asked what the next lowest

Summerhayes – Open – 24th November 2024

Waking up Sunday morning, the weather was showing no signs of letting up and I wasn’t feeling too enthusiastic about spending another day battling the elements. Summerhayes is pretty exposed at the best of times and on arriving the wind was howling across Longs which did nothing to ease my lack of motivation! With ten fishing, Pete asked what we wanted to

Summerhayes – Open – 17th November 2024

On Sunday we were headed back to Summerhayes and I must admit to still feeling really deflated after the previous day and I wasn’t up for this at all, especially as Sellicks hasn’t been fishing very well! There were 19 booked in for this one which wouldn’t do us any favours either. With Pete holding the bucket of dreams/doom, I was hoping

Summerhayes – Champion of Champions Silvers Final – 16th November 2024

On Saturday it was the Champion of Champions Silvers Final on Longs at Summerhayes, it’s one I really look forward to and would love to win but so far, fourth is my best finish. There were sixteen anglers fishing so we’d all have plenty of room although a few more had qualified but were unable to make it today. Pete announced the

Summerhayes – Open – 10th November 2024

I’d really enjoyed my last match on Longs a few weeks previous with lots of bites from small fish along with the odd better skimmer and some crucians so was looking forward to another go. The car park was busy with 24 booked in for Longs and another match on Sellicks as well. With quite a few anglers on the lake today,

Summerhayes – Silvers Open – 2nd November 2024

On Saturday we headed to Summerhayes for a silvers match on Sellicks, it’s probably my favourite lake although the fishing has been rather tricky in recent weeks. Only eight of us fishing but it meant we’d have plenty of room. I really fancied peg 16 which was also the bonus ball but my drawing arm continues to misbehave although I pulled out

Summerhayes – Open – 13th October 2024

My Sunday got off to a rubbish start when I somehow managed to ignore two alarms and woke up at 7:30 when I should have been eating my lovely breakfast at the bowling club at 7:00!!! After phoning Nick and apologising to Charlotte, I then phoned Pete and asked him to draw a peg for me if I wasn’t there in time.

Summerhayes – Open – 22nd September 2024

The following day it was off to Summerhayes for the open on Sellicks with 17 anglers booked in. When draw time arrived I was hoping for a peg between 16-22 and wasn’t too far off when I pulled out 24. For company I had Adie on my right while poor old Dan T on 25 was rather hemmed in without much water
