For round two of Ruthie’s Cup, my group was supposed to be at Dillington but IAA had closed the lake due to the carp spawning so we were back on Stoke Pond but different pegs this time. After breakfast at Cartgate, it was time for the draw and I pulled out 14 on the far bank.

I had a rig set up to fish corn over micros at 13 metres along with a little dibber for shallow for pellets. On the whistle I started on the depth rig and got off the mark quite quickly with a little pastie. A couple more followed but I’ve only had one of the better 3lb carp while there was plenty of splashing coming from Nick P’s swim on my left and I could also see Nick V landing fish regularly over on peg 18.
Odd carp were cruising around and I kept flicking the shallow rig in their general direction but only managed one all day and to be honest I’ve really struggled and not caught very much at all. I only finished up 2 decent carp, 11 pasties, 2 roach and a rudd.
After packing up, I went round to weigh Stu in on peg 6, he had 11lb 8oz, Danny struggled for 3lb 15oz, Nick P did well with 29lb 13oz, my fish went 15lb and then Nick V recorded his second section win with 34lb 7oz.

Stu had lots of little carp and a decent one for 11lb 8oz

Nick P was second in the section with 29lb 10oz

Nick V had the top weight with 34lb 7oz
As the results pinged into the WhatsApp group, Roy ‘The Bomb’ had won the other section at Stoke Pond with an impressive 76lb 6oz from peg 4, Rob ‘Oscar’ Wylde had the top weight at Coombe Farm with several big carp plus silvers for 62lb 5oz while it was closer at the Private Pond where Terry ‘The Toast’ took the verdict with 24lb 5oz to Bob P’s 22lb 9oz.
