Me And Andy 22nd March 2009

Perry St Pond – Spring League – 22nd March 2009

Another bright and sunny day and I was looking forward to a bit of carp bashing, my only worry was that several frosts might knock sport a bit. My mate Andy was fishing today as a substitute as was Dave Lawrence for Steve Bishop. Draw time soon arrived and the anglers who drew a corner peg last time went first before the

Perry St Pond – Spring League – 15th March 2009

Sunday morning arrived and the weather was glorious and although not a great lover of carp fishing I was looking forward to the first match of the Spring League. I got to Perry St a little early but already many of the anglers were gathering. Once again this popular league was a sell out with several anglers on the reserves list. I

Perry St Pond – Pairs – 22nd June 2008

On the Saturday the club removed all the problem lily pads which was a mammoth job and it would be interesting to see how the pond fished today. Les came up with a different spin on the pairs format in that pegs would be paired together so you wouldn’t know who you were fishing with until you’d drawn. He’d put good pegs

Perry St Pond – Spring League – 8th June 2008

Waking up I opened the curtains to be greeted by a glorious day for the final spring league match. At the draw I commented how I would love to draw peg 10 and then promptly went and drew it! The peg is probably the second best peg on the pond (behind peg 11) and is one of the famed corner pegs and

The weather forecast was pretty grim for the penultimate match although it wasn’t as windy as they said it would be. At the draw everybody wanted a corner peg per usual and when it was my turn there were only about eight pegs left and all the corners were still there. Did I draw one? did I hell as like! Peg 15

Perry St Pond – Spring League – 11th May 2008

After a few blazing hot days, the forecast was the same today so I got to the draw armed with a big bottle of water and plenty of suncream. When the draw was announced I was quite near the back of the queue and when it came to my turn, Les said that there were still three of the hot corner pegs

Perry St Pond – Spring League – 27th April 2008

Nearly a full house for this one with 19 anglers eagerly awaiting the draw, I did my usual trick of avoiding all the corner pegs by ending up on peg 7 again. Still with the weather warming up I had it in my mind that I was going to fish up in the water as quite a few carp have been caught

Perry St Pond – Spring League – 13th April 2008

After actually picking up some money last week I was hoping to continue my good fortune this week. After drawing peg 3, I wasn’t so sure. Butch Baker drew another flier in the shape of peg 10 and Chris Haines also continued his good form at the draw bag with peg 20. My peg has had some form but only when peg

Perry St Pond – 6th April 2008

Once again the forecast was crap but this time the only difference was that snow was forecast instead of rain. Only ten hardened anglers (or nutters as I like to call them) turned up for the draw and Les decided to leave the corner pegs out in a bid to make it a fairer match. I drew peg 16 and as I

Perry St Pond – Spring League – 30th March 2008

I wasn’t looking forward to this one although the weather was a lot better than forecast. Les and Steve Bush drew their usual corner pegs and Janders was on consistent peg 13, for my sins I drew peg 7 which hasn’t got a lot of form. I set up a 0.6 gram Drennan carp float to fish at 11 metres and scaled
