Revels Fishery – Xmas Open – 23rd December 2025

Festive Fixture Five and my last match before Xmas was the Tuesday Open at Revels, a venue I absolutely love and just wish I could visit more often. After meeting Parker ‘The Pole’ for breakfast we arrived nice and early although the car park was already filling up fast as this match is always very popular. Complimentary bacon rolls and coffee were

Summerhayes – Xmas Match – 14th December 2025

The Xmas Matches are coming thick and fast as I’ve booked into five this year (which might be the most I’ve ever entered although one of them isn’t strictly a Xmas Fayre with prizes etc). As always there was a big turnout for this one with 38 anglers fishing and it’s a rover/walk off/draw and choose style match where you pull a

Todber Manor – Xmas Match – 13th December 2025

The Todber Xmas fixture was originally going to be on Ash but a recent match on Hillview saw some excellent weights of silvers returned so Guy asked everyone if we fancied having a go on there instead and the entry was increased to 21 anglers. We all enjoyed a fantastic breakfast before it was time for the draw and I was hoping

Thorney Lakes – Stoke Xmas Fayre – 7th December 2025

On Sunday it was Stokes Xmas Fayre with the 22 anglers spread over two ponds at Ash plus Thorney (it was supposed to be on the Parrett but heavy rain put paid to that!). Originally I put my name down to fish Pond 2 at Ash but when the river anglers were switched to Thorney I asked if I could fish that

Revels Fishery – Xmas Open – 17th December 2024

The next festive fixture was the Tuesday Club Xmas Match at Revels and as per usual there was a great turn out of 21 anglers. After complimentary hot drinks and bacon rolls it was time for the draw and today we’d be spread over all the lakes. I was around halfway down the list and when my name was called, I was

Summerhayes – Xmas Match – 15th December 2024

On Sunday it was another Xmas match, this time at Summerhayes and parking was at a premium with 40 anglers booked in! It was a rover with all lakes in and also a rolling draw which obviously depended on someone pulling out choice one before it could get underway! Nick pulled out choice 7 and when I asked what the next lowest

Ash Ponds – Stoke Xmas Fayre – 8th December 2024

I was supposed to have been at Acorn on Saturday but another named storm hit the South West resulting in a red warning issued and the majority of matches were called off. It was the sensible day thing to do but I must admit I’ve never been so bored as it’s the first Saturday in a long time I haven’t been fishing.

Revels Fishery – Xmas Match – 1st December 2024

I was really looking forward to my first Xmas Match of the year at one of my favourite venues. I’ve only fished this match once back in 2021 when I managed to win it from peg 8 (the best peg in Dorset) with four carp on dobbed bread for 24lb+. There was a great turnout of 35 anglers and we’d be spread

Ash Ponds – Stoke Xmas Fayre – 14th January 2024

Sunday was Stokes rearranged Xmas Fayre match on Ash Ponds and Parrett Works with 13 anglers on the river and 19 split between Ponds 2 and 3 at Ash. You could choose which venue you preferred and I went for Ash 2 as when I fished it for the first time in 2021, I’d really enjoyed it catching carp and some silvers

River Isle – Chris Patten Xmas Fayre – 3rd December 2023

I haven’t fished the river since 29th Jan when I blanked at Hambridge and I must admit I was hoping for rain so we’d be on the pond which has been fishing well. Alas my prayers weren’t answered and the river it was. As always there was a great turnout with lots of faces I haven’t seen since last year including George
