Revels Fishery – Open – 7th April 2026

For my fifth match in as many days and a first trip of the year to Revels, I’d booked a day off work to extend the long weekend. 17 fishing today with Main and Dead Tree lakes being used, I was fairly near the top of the list and Dean pulled out 52 on the latter for me, a peg I’ve never fished before which is right by the very tree the lake is named after. Parker ‘The Pole’ got number 4 on Main and Dan T (fishing Revels for the first time) was up on DT peg 42.

While I was setting up, there were lots of fish topping and I really fancied it, on the whistle I fed two lines at 8.5 metres (straight out and by the tree to my left) plus another at 11.5 metres before starting on a top kit by the reeds. The short line resulted in no indications so I went down the middle next and began getting bites from small roach, perch and gudgeon. I also had a visitor in the shape of a gorgeous grass snake that swam across the lake and took one look at me before heading off to see Hugh next door.

Alternating between the 8.5 metre lines and toss potting in a little loose groundbait after every couple of fish, I began catching really well on disco pinkies including some decent roach and a nice bonus 10oz hybrid. The odd little 4-6oz skimmer also put in an appearance although I did pull out of one as well. It was lovely fishing and I’d only hooked one carp, I got to 100 fish with ninety minutes to go so had a look at 11.5 metres where I’d been pinging maggots. I had a couple of small roach on pinkie so tried maggot and it took a while to get a bite but a 12oz skimmer was worth it.

Next put in I had a roach and it was a fish a chuck, I kept expecting carp to muscle in but it didn’t happen and on the whistle, I had 135 fish on the clicker. The scales started round the other side of Dead Tree where Dan had done well on his first visit with 6lb 15oz, Dave S on 46 had 5lb 6oz, Dave L weighed 5lb 13oz, Hugh had 8lb 6oz of mainly carp and then I was hoping I had double figures so was well chuffed when the scales read 15lb 3oz. I picked up £40 for winning the silvers and I can’t wait to get back down there again in a couple of weeks.

A pound from Dan T saw the Nugget-O-Meter climb to £267.
