Sunday it was back to Summerhayes and when I was called up to draw, I was fairly happy with peg 19 on the bottom bank after doing well on 17 last weekend.
Fed the usual short lines, 10 metres and pinged maggots across, it took a little while to get bites and I started catching little skimbobs along with a small tench. After two hours I went to 10 metres and first chuck I had a lovely 1lb hybrid, next put in I had one of 8oz and that was followed by a skimmer of similar size. I was getting little runs of fish and then had a decent spell adding a section and going past the feed.
With just under an hour left, I had my first look across where I’d been feeding maggots and was expecting it to be really good but only missed a couple of bites and lost a foulhooked carp. I spent the remaining time at 10 metres and limped to the finish with a roach and a couple of carp to finish up with a total 38 silvers and 6 carp.
As the scales worked their way round the lake, Steve Collins on 7 was leading with 36lb 1oz, my fish went 35lb 10oz (including 16lb of silvers) and I thought I’d just miss out today with the pegs along the track still to weigh. Nick on 27 had 32lb and then Nigel Bartlett weighed 15lb 7oz before Dan ‘Making it Happen’ Taggart on 32 went into the silvers lead with 17lb 9oz (and took a nugget off me).
Steve Collins had the top weight on the day with 36lb 1oz
I finished second with 35lb 10oz
Dan had some big skimmers and a crucian to win the silvers with 17lb 9oz
Glynn had 11lb 13oz of silvers and Bill didn’t weigh on 36 so I finished second overall picking up £32 with Dan and Nigel taking first and second in the silvers.
