My Saturday trip to Todber didn’t get off to the best of starts when I woke up at 7:37 and I should have been sat down eating breakfast at 7:30! After rushing around, things didn’t improve when I arrived to find I’d drawn peg 62 at the near end, not where you need to be at the moment.
Quickly setting up a couple of pole rigs I fed lines by the bush to my left, straight out at 11.5 metres and at top two plus one to my right. I did manage six half decent skimmers and a few tiny fish from the short line but to be honest, my heart wasn’t really in it and as I could see people catching regularly on the middle pegs, I was just going through the motions.
One to forget for me although I did stick it out until the end and weighed 6lb 6oz, Charlie on 64 had 4lb 6oz, McKenzie weighed 7lb 8oz on 66 and then the middle pegs had fished well, Nigel had 10lb 1oz, Adrian Dew on 69 was second with 23lb, Andy A had 15lb 9oz for third and then Roy ‘The Bomb’ Worth had some lovely big skimmers to win with 28lb on 71. Nick P had 9lb 6oz and then the top pegs had also struggled with Parker The Pole and Glynn not weighing on 74 and 75.

Adrian Dew kindly let me have £4 from his recent side bet wins and Roy Worth added the £3 he took off us today as the Nugget-O-Meter rose to £274.

I then rushed about some more to get home and then out to Stoke AA’s presentation evening where finally getting my name on the Memorial Shield was the highlight of the day (more photos can be found here – Presentation Evening). A long day with loads of driving (and did I mention the rushing about!), by the time I got home I was pooped, a few hours sleep and then it was time to do it all over again!
A nice end to chaotic day!
