I was really looking forward to another Tuesday trip to Revels and after meeting birthday boy Parker ‘The Pole’ in Yeovil for breakfast, we headed to the venue. A great turnout of 20 anglers, we would be on Main and Dead Tree lakes today and I was hoping to get on the latter again. I was around halfway down the list and when my name was called out, Dean pulled out number 7 on Main, not the lake I wanted but a peg that does throw up some decent weights of silvers.

The usual rigs were set up and on the whistle I fed two lines at 11.5 metres before starting on a top kit, it took a few minutes to get my first bite which was from a net roach. I bumped a fish, missed a couple of indications and then lost a carp. After an hour I had 18 fish and was doing okay although Andy Miller over on 20 was catching silvers well so I had my first look on the longer lines.
Swapping between the two swims I began catching quite well including a nice rudd and several skimmers, I also had a lovely crucian around a pound but it wouldn’t be contributing to my silvers weight. As the day progressed, I was hooking (and losing) a few carp but crucially I was still putting roach, perch and odd skimmers in the net. By the all out I’d reached 102 fish which I thought would give me 8-9lb but whether I’d done any good would depend on how Dead Tree had fished.
When the scales reached us, a quick look at the board revealed the other lake had fished hard and Terry Dell on 22 was leading the silvers with 6lb 6oz. My crucian was 1lb 3oz and then my silvers went 12lb 3oz which was top so far, Steve P had 4lb 14oz and then Dave S on 11 weighed 14lb 12oz of carp before the scales headed round to the other side.

Another lovely day catching 102 silvers for 12lb 3oz*
Back at the car park for the results and Jamie Pressley had done well on 16 weighing 6lb 14oz of silvers and Andy M had 9lb 4oz which was second so I’d won and picked up £50. Roy Worth had the top overall weight with 36lb 3oz of carp from 46, Adrian Hayes was second with 21lb 10oz and Terry Dell completed the frame with 19lb 3oz. Photos courtesy of Revels*
