River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 7 – 21st February 2016

The final V.E.S. Precision match arrived and as the rain had held off we were actually able to get back on the river. On the league front, Fieldy was uncatchable but it was all very tight for the second and third places with Heardy and me on 12 points and Bruce on 13. I got to the pub and it was nice

River Isle – Royal Oak Winter League 6 – 17th January 2016

We were finally able to get back on the river for this match and when I got to the Oak in the morning for the draw it was nice to see Baz Morgan was fishing today. Rob had pegged the Hambridge and Isle Brewers sections and there were also a couple of new pegs in, so it would be interesting to see how

With no real rain to speak of, we would be back on the river today and arriving for the draw it was nice to see the Tackleuk baggers back again although Ashley was looking a bit rough as he was suffering from a serious bout of man flu. Looking at the pegs in today, there were some real crackers like 128, 129

River Isle – Royal Oak Winter League 4 – 29th November 2015

Very strong winds were forecast for today and it was sounding like we could be in for a very unpleasant day weather wise. I got to the pub and there were a few other anglers there enjoying a hearty breakfast to set them up for the day battling the elements and hopefully catching a few fish. Stu Alford came straight over and paid

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 3 – 22nd November 2015

We had some horrible weather on Saturday, with strong winds and much colder temperatures it was looking like winter had finally arrived. The fact I had to defrost the car this morning seemed to confirm it although thankfully the wind had dropped. I got to the pub fairly early and there was a decent turnout of eleven and a quick look at

River Isle – 1st November 2015

With no scheduled league matches this week we decided to have a knock up and also use it as a chance to have a look at some other stretches of the river. There had been a lot of rain earlier in the week and the river was unfishable on Thursday but with no more of the wet stuff, the river should be

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 2 – 25th October 2015

I got to the pub for the draw early and there seems to be more and more cars outside every week! We were up to 15 anglers this week, which is great to see, Paul Homewood, Bob Hammond and the Langport invader, Baz Morgan, were joining us today. Rob had pegged Redbridge, Isle Brewers and Hambridge with five pegs on each stretch.

After blanking in the first match, I needed a decent result today or my league was over before it started, I got to the pub for the draw and saw Rob had pegged Isle Brewers again but had also put a few pegs in at Hambridge, they were full of fish at the end of last season but I thought it might be

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 1 – 11th October 2015

After blanking last week I was hoping for better things today, I knew Rob was pegging Redbridge and Isle Brewers and from all accounts there were loads of small fish topping when they were down there yesterday sorting out pegs. I got to the pub for the draw and there was a decent turnout of twelve (well eleven actually because Heardy was going

River Isle – Royal Oak Winter League 1 – 4th October 2015

I was really looking forward to getting back on the river today, I got to the pub in good time and there was a decent turnout of eight anglers including some more news in the shape of Gordon Aplin and his son Karl. Gordon’s face looked familiar and he said he used to fish matches back in the era of Adrian Green, Barney
