River Isle – Xmas Fayre – 4th December 2016

It had been cold all week and when I woke up this morning to the hardest frost of the year so far, I knew it was going to be hard going today. I got to the pub in good time and there was a great turn out of twenty anglers as the numbers were swelled by the likes of Andy Welch, Paul

River Isle – Royal Oak Winter League 4 – 27th November 2016

The river was still flooded at the start of the week but by Wednesday it was fishable again and looked lovely although the temperature has dropped a few degrees and we would be in for a chilly one today! I got to the pub in plenty of time for one of Steve’s sausage sarnies before having a look at the pegs being used today and

River Isle – Royal Oak Winter League 3 – 13th November 2016

After a disappointing match last Sunday, I was hoping my drawing arm would be back on form this week. I got to the pub nice and early and although Rob was there he wouldn’t be fishing today as he’d done his back in, hope it’s better soon mate. After a nice sausage sarnie, I had a quick look at the pegs in

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 3 – 6th November 2016

With the forecast for the weekend decidedly chilly and the river still very low and clear, it was going to be hard today and a good draw would be essential. I got to the pub and we were down a few anglers this week with some of the regulars on holiday or working. Rob had pegged Redbridge, Isle Brewers and above Hambridge

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 2 – 23rd October 2016

After three matches where I’d caught loads of fish and really enjoyed myself, the last few nights have seen the temperature drop a few degrees. There’s definitely been a chill in the air and although we haven’t had a frost yet it won’t be long. With no rain, the river was back to being low and clear and combined with the drop

River Isle – Royal Oak Winter League 2 – 16th October 2016

After some heavy rain during the night that woke me up I was hoping there might be some much needed colour in the river today. I got to the Royal Oak and we had eleven fishing again, including Heardy who was joining us for the first time in ages. Hurf and Jake had been down to North Bradon in the week and cut

River Isle – V.E.S. Precision League 1 – 9th October 2016

After a great start in the Royal Oak league last week I was hoping for more of the same in the first round of the V.E.S. today, a league I would dearly love to win again. When I got to the pub for the draw we had the same number fishing as last week although not all the same people, it was

River Isle – Royal Oak Winter League 1 – 2nd October 2016

I was looking forward to getting back on the river but with it being painfully low and clear, a good draw would be essential. Rob and Fieldy had gone down yesterday to do some swim clearing and made sure there were enough pegs for today so a massive thanks for that, it really is appreciated. There was a decent turn out of

River Isle – 24th July 2016

With nothing on this week, a few of us decided to have a little knock up on the lower end of the river, as per usual I was running late and by the time I got to Isle Brewers the draw had been done and Rob told me I was on peg 126a, not my favourite peg but it’s usually worth a few fish.

River Isle – 13th March 2016

With no scheduled match this week we decided to have a little knock up on the river as it would be our last chance before the season ended. We also wanted to have a look at some different swims and five of us met at Coxes before deciding on going to have a look at the Horlicks stretch which I haven’t fished
