Summerhayes – Open – 12th April 2026

Thankfully I managed not to oversleep the following day and was able to enjoy a nice breakfast before heading to Summerhayes for the match on Longs. 17 fishing today and when I was called up to draw I pulled out 36 which was also the golden ball (although there wasn’t much in the pot after Dave Romain and Mark Leahy had both

Summerhayes – Open – 6th April 2026

Match number four was back at Summerhayes and we were on Sellicks this time, only eight booked in for this one and I was top of the list again. After drawing number 5 for the golden peg, I once again managed to avoid it and 18 was my home for the day, a good area although I did think a frost overnight

Summerhayes – Open – 5th April 2026

After two cracking days catching silvers, I was hoping for more of the same at Summerhayes on Sunday. A great turnout of 24 anglers, I was top of the list this week and drew peg 35 which is a brilliant area for silvers. It was nice and calm as we were setting up but obviously that didn’t last long and the wind

Summerhayes – Open – 3rd April 2026

A nice long weekend at Easter always means lots of fishing (and reports to write up which isn’t helping with the backlog!), kicking off five days of matches, it was on Longs for Good Friday. Only 11 of us fishing today including Big Bad Bob who’d somehow cut the end of his nose and couldn’t stop it bleeding, Bill ‘Healing Hands’ Hopping

Summerhayes – Open – 29th March 2026

Sunday it was back to Summerhayes and when I was called up to draw, I was fairly happy with peg 19 on the bottom bank after doing well on 17 last weekend. Fed the usual short lines, 10 metres and pinged maggots across, it took a little while to get bites and I started catching little skimbobs along with a small tench.

Summerhayes – Open – 22nd March 2026

After really struggling on Sellicks I was hoping for better things on Longs today, a good turnout with 19 fishing and when it was my turn to draw I pulled out 17 on the bottom bank. It’s one of the widest pegs on the lake and can be good for silvers although I’d have preferred to have been in the thirties. For

Summerhayes – Silvers Open – 21st March 2026

Given how far behind I am with the blog and the fact I didn’t catch very much, this one won’t take long! It was a silvers only Saturday on Sellicks and there were nine of us fishing today. Pete announced the draw and I really didn’t fancy 2 or 24 (nearest pegs to the car park) and was also hoping to avoid

Summerhayes – Open – 15th March 2026

Only seven of us fishing which meant it would be a rover and as I was top of the list, I had to draw the golden ball which was choice 3 today and then, as so often is the case, I only went and pulled it again! Rob B got first choice and went for 34, Tony H was next and chose

Summerhayes – Open – 8th March 2026

The following day at Summerhayes we were on Sellicks but with 23 anglers fishing and nearly every peg in, I thought it might be a difficult day for most. It was great to catch up with Steve Raybould who I used to fish with back in the Sharp Match Group days and has just got back into it. I was around midway

Summerhayes – Open – 1st March 2026

Back to Summerhayes the following day for the match on Longs and I was hoping for a peg along the track and got my wish when I pulled out 30 which is right where you need to be for silvers at the moment. I had Nick P on my left and then the next peg to my right was Dan T all
