Summerhayes – Open – 27th April 2025

No rest for the wicked as the matches and reports are churned out by the blog factory, please bear with me if they’re slightly shorter and not up to their usual high (cough, cough) quality! It was another Summerhayes Sunday on Longs with 19 fishing this week, I was fairly near the top of the list and pulled out 30 which is

Summerhayes – Open – 21st April 2025

Bank Holiday Monday and for part four of my angling pentalogy I was back at Summerhayes for another match on Longs. 22 fishing so a great turn out and when it was my turn to draw I pulled out 38 which I had mixed feelings about. It’s probably the narrowest peg on the lake and has been really good for carp recently.

Summerhayes – Open – 20th April 2025

Thankfully I managed not to oversleep and was able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the bowling club this morning before heading to Summerhayes for my third match in as many days. A decent turnout of 19 anglers for this one and my drawing arm behaved itself putting me on 32, a great silvers peg. I got off to a really good

Summerhayes – Open – 18th April 2025

With a nice long weekend for Easter, I extended it further by taking the Tuesday as leave and booked into matches every day starting with Summerhayes on Good Friday and finishing at Revels for Parker ‘The Pole’s’ birthday outing. Twelve of us fishing today and judging by the forecast we were in for a moist match, I was slightly apprehensive as the

Summerhayes – Open – 13th April 2025

After a long day yesterday, I was flagging a bit when the alarm went off this morning but a bowling club breakfast sorted me out and I was raring to go once again! When we got to Bridgwater, the car park was pretty busy with 26 booked in for the match. As we waited for the draw I was saying to somebody

Summerhayes – Open – 6th April 2025

I woke up still feeling a tad sore from the previous days double next peg spanking (where’s the Torquay Tart and his tube of Savlon when you need him?) and was hoping for better things today. 20 anglers booked in, so another good turnout, Pete announced the draw starting with the golden peg which was 25, not one I’d fancy. Summerhayes – Open – 23rd March 2025

After a lovely day and lots of bites on Saturday I was hoping for more of the same the following day on Longs at Summerhayes. A great turnout of 25 anglers and it was fantastic to see Zooner who was back after a recent op and we were also joined by Russ Hamilton (Hilton) who had enjoyed his first visit fishing Sellicks

Summerhayes – Open – 16th March 2025

I seem to be constantly behind with the blog so apologies if you’ve been eagerly awaiting the results of my last couple of matches (unlikely I know!). Sunday it was Summerhayes again and although we had yet another frost, it was actually shaping up to be a rather nice day. A Baker’s Dozen fishing and as per usual I was hoping to

Summerhayes – Open – 9th March 2025

It was back on Longs Sunday which I was looking forward to and after a lovely brekkie at the bowling club (thanks Charlotte) we headed to Bridgwater. A decent turnout of 18 today and I was hoping for a peg along the track (28-34) or my favourite number 13. I was quite near the top of the list but by the time

Summerhayes – Open – 2nd March 2025

On Sunday we headed to Summerhayes and I was hoping we’d be on Longs but when we arrived, the car park was rammed as there was a club match booked on there which meant we’d be on Sellicks. We’d had a few nights of frosts and with most pegs in, I had a feeling it might be a tough one today. Pete
