Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 3rd November 2021

Another day off work and another match (I could get used to this!). I hadn’t fished the pond since July when it fished it’s head off, the last match here fished quite hard and with the second frost in two days, I thought it might be similar today with 30lb a good weight. Massive thanks to Jake Berkley and The Grand Wizard

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 21st July 2021

With a week booked off work, I always like to try a fish a mid-weeker but where to go? I did ask The Grand Wizard if he fancied a charity match at Hebditch’s and he said he did but the trouble was it was rather overgrown and needed some work doing and being quite short notice, it probably wouldn’t be a goer.

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 13th June 2021

Before I get onto this weeks report, I had the sad news yesterday that Ray Wickham had passed away on Friday, he’d been unwell for some time. Like me, Ray loved his silvers fishing and I partnered him a couple of times in two day pairs festivals at Summerhayes and we had a good record, winning one and finishing second in the

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 2nd May 2021

Since matches have resumed, although it’s been nice to get back on the bank, I’ve had a pretty torrid time of it fishing-wise with the only highlight being a win at Harry’s pond, a venue I always enjoy fishing. We were back again for another charity match although it was only me and Rob from The Breakfast Club this time. We met

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 11th April 2021

The charity matches run by Stoke are always very popular but with only a dozen swims around the pond, there are always more people wanting to fish than available pegs. In a bid to try and make it as fair as possible, everybody who wants to fish puts their name down and for the first match, twelve names are drawn out of

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 1st November 2020

With only one league on the river this year, I’ve got plenty of gaps in my match diary so when I saw Stoke had arranged another charity match at Hebditch’s pond, I booked in and it filled up in just seven minutes after being posted on Facebook! I always enjoy fishing these matches, although the only downside is the Stoke lads do

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 26th August 2020

Chris W was keen to hold another charity match but with virtually no free weekends, he arranged one for midweek and I booked a days leave so I could fish, it filled up in no time and the Grand Wizard and Dave S went out and cut a new peg in the reeds but there was a wasps nest nearby and Chris

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 19th July 2020

Even though we’re slowly getting back to normal, some clubs and commercials are still not holding many matches and I was struggling to find somewhere to fish again. After talking to James and Chris they said they’d be up for another charity match at Hebditch’s Pond and when Harry gave the go ahead, it filled up in no time. I realise not

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 31st May 2020

After last week’s first trip out since lockdown and the massive headache of trying to arrange care for my dad on a Sunday, I decided I was going to wait until matches were back on the agenda before fishing again. Everything was pointing towards that happening in early June so when the Angling Trust announced on Facebook in the week that matches

Hebditch’s Pond – Barney’s Pairs Open – 1st March 2020

Barney’s Pairs is always one of my favourite matches although I can never seem to keep hold of a partner and I’m getting concerned I may need to change my deodorant! This trend continued with Andy Saunders my latest partner for this match, we’ve also used several venues in various combinations over the years. Ideally we’d have fished the Isle (Barney’s favourite
